An on-going collection of stories and other works, including critical articles. introductions, summaries... This audiobook is an on-going collection of stories by Nikolai Vasilievitch Gogol (1809-1852) as rendered into English by a variety of translators whose works are in the public domain. The version of "The Cloak" is translated by Isabel F. Hapgood (1886), the "Memoirs of a Madman" and "The Nose" are translated by Claud Field; and others... There is an oft quoted statement referring to Gogol's "The Cloak," one that for more than a hundred years has appeared in a variety of forms and has been attributed to many different Russian authors, critics, and the like, including Dostoevsky himself. It goes something like this: "We all come out from Gogol's OVERCOAT." Some of these recordings appear elsewhere on Internet Archive, many of them are in several collections originating from LibriVox.
